 BASIC STAGES OF DIETARY SUPPLEMENT MANUFACTURING:

 Granulation – consists in transforming the powdered or liquid active substance and excipients into homogenous aggregate grains.

The resultant granules can be a ready form of the medicine, they may also be an intermediate for tablet and capsule manufacturing.

Tableting – tablets can be obtained by pressing the mixture of active substances and excipients, either immediately after mixing or after granulating.

Tablet/capsule coating – is a technological process resulting in putting a coating over the tablet (ie. over the tablet core). Coatings, depending on the aim of coating, may have various composition and thickness. The tablets may have sugar coating or be coated with macromolecular substances. Coating may be also applied to capsules.
 

Blistering and packaging – The tablets and capsules are usually packed in blister or jars packs.
